COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Little Caesars will launch its Love Kitchen at The Salvation Army Tucson on Sunday, Jan. 18, starting at 10 a.m. The truck will serve 150 shelter clients with pizza and beverages (Pepsi).  KVOA
  • The City of Tucson will upgrade 10 westside parks over the next two years under its Parks and Connections project. This spring, construction at Fred Archer Center installs a splash pad, while updates at Kennedy and Santa Cruz parks are set for later this year + early next year.  KGUN 9
  • Yesterday, a sold-out Wildcats watch party at The District Bites and Brew (energizing fans) kicked off the week; upcoming events include a coin expo at Casino del Sol, Dillinger Day re-enactments at Hotel Congress, live jazz at the Rialto Theatre, and MLK activities at Reid Park.  Tucson Sentinel

CRIME NEWS

  • The Arizona Game and Fish Department is offering $500 for information on a deer illegally removed from a closed area in Tucson Mountain Park near the parking lot at 36th Street and Enchanted Hills Trailhead between Dec. 17 and Dec. 18, 2025.  KVOA

CULTURE NEWS

  • Veteran saxophonist Kirk Whalum will perform his 'Songs of Change' at Rialto Theatre on Saturday, Jan. 17 as part of the Tucson Jazz Festival. He will join Jazzmeia Horn & John Stoddart to bring hope and unity through music.  Tucson Sentinel
  • Hotel Congress hosts the 32nd annual Dillinger Days starting tomorrow with a Dillinger Speakeasy that features a live John Dillinger act with professionals (tickets include whiskey tasting) and on Saturday offers family-friendly reenactments and historic tours recalling his capture.  Tucson Weekly

EDUCATION NEWS

  • University of Arizona restarted its four-year apprenticeship program to train facility services workers by offering 8,000 hours of hands-on learning at its campus facilities. Nine apprentices, chosen from a pool of 600 candidates, will gain technical skills to replace retiring staff.  KGUN 9
  • The Arizona School for the Deaf and Blind (ASDB) will begin using Copper Creek Elementary next school year after the Amphi School District closed several schools to save costs. ASDB officials plan to sign a five-year lease following meetings with staff and the community.  KVOA

  • A sold-out crowd is set to pack McKale Center tonight as the Arizona Wildcats + Arizona State Sun Devils face off at 8:30 p.m. in a heated rivalry game for bragging rights.  KVOA
