COMMUNITY NEWS

  • El Tour de Tucson raised over $8 million in 2025 with nearly 11,000 cyclists (supported by 122 nonprofit partners) and will seek to exceed that success on Nov. 21 in multiple Pima County communities.  KVOA
  • KVOA announced that viewers in northwest Tucson and Oro Valley must rescan their TVs when the secondary transmitter on Tucson Mountain shifts to a new frequency late Jan. 31 or early Feb. 1 (this update ensures continued reception of NBC).  KVOA
  • In November 2025, El Tour de Tucson raised over $8M + nearly 11,000 riders joined a 42-year legacy that has contributed more than $138M to local and national charities.  KGUN 9

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Vivace Restaurant at Campbell and Skyline made OpenTable’s Top 100 Romantic Restaurants list for 2026 and is one of only two state restaurants honored. The local eatery, serving northern Italian cuisine, has been a favorite since it opened in 1993.  KGUN 9

CULTURE NEWS

  • Victor Gutierrez delivered a sax-driven jazz performance at Owls Club on Thursday, Jan. 29 from 9pm to 11pm & entertained a lively crowd at 236 S. Scott Ave.  Downtown Tucson
  • Tucson's largest gem show returns at Kino Sports Complex until Feb.15 with over 200 vendors selling gems, minerals, fossils and jewelry + families can visit the TRAK booth to enjoy animal therapy with donkeys and goats.  KGUN 9
  • Tucson musician Jonny2Mics returns to the stage with his new band Fire WithN after finishing six months of chemotherapy for B-cell lymphoma. He debuted Wednesday evening at La Rosa during the Melodies for Miracles benefit for Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation and plans more Southwest shows.  Tucson Sentinel

  • Officials from Pima County and Sonora, Mexico met Thursday afternoon to discuss major collaboration efforts & explore ways to boost cross-border cooperation for future projects.  KOLD News 13
  • Carol Stewart, UA vice president and CEO of UA Tech Parks, was elected to the Tucson Airport Authority Board on Jan. 26. She will use her expertise (in innovation and economic development) to help advance the airport’s strategic priorities and boost the region’s economy.  KVOA
  • Pima Association of Governments (PAG) is advancing a rail study to improve passenger service linking Phoenix and Tucson, as the Federal Railroad Administration and ADOT pursue further corridor evaluation; public engagement sessions are planned to gather community input.  KVOA

  • FIFA is considering Tucson’s Kino Sports Complex as a training site for the World Cup set for summer 2026. Officials say a decision is pending and it could boost local hotels, restaurants, and businesses if confirmed.  KOLD News 13
  • Pima Community College women’s basketball team won its fifth straight game over Glendale with a final score of 89-49 Wednesday. Sophomore Sours-Miller led with 18 points and 17 rebounds — the Aztecs will face Mesa Community College Saturday at 2 p.m.  Tucson Sentinel
