  • Officials from the Pima County Sheriff's Department are seeking help to locate 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie, who was last seen Saturday near her home on E. Skyline Drive (North Campbell Avenue) in Tucson as they prepare for a news conference at 8:45 p.m. tonight.  KVOA

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The UA Women in Science and Engineering program helps female STEM students with mentorship + research opportunities to overcome imposter syndrome. The program paired 55 mentor-mentee pairs in 2023-2024 to build confidence for internships and career growth.  The Daily Wildcat

  • Former congresswoman Gabby Giffords held a roundtable discussion in Tucson on Feb. 1 with local leaders (including Mayor Regina Romero) to address community issues.  KVOA

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Pima Community College softball team completed a four-game sweep at El Paso Community College on Saturday by scoring 27 runs in a doubleheader (45 runs total over four games). They will open ACCAC conference play on Tuesday at noon at the West Campus Aztec Softball Field.  Tucson Sentinel
  • In the Big 12 game on Feb. 1, the Arizona Wildcats lost 88-69 to the Oklahoma State Cowgirls in Tucson, as the team struggled to keep pace throughout the match.  Arizona Daily Star
  • On Saturday, the Pima Community College Aztecs split a home doubleheader with Yavapai College, losing the opener but winning the second by five runs. The Aztecs will return to West Campus Aztec Field Tuesday at noon for a non-conference doubleheader against Cochise College.  Tucson Sentinel
  • University of Arizona’s women tennis team (3 to 2 record) lost 4 to 0 to SMU on Saturday, Jan. 31 at the Styslinger/Altec Tennis Complex in Dallas, Texas in both singles and doubles matches. The team will travel to Santa Barbara for the UCSB invitational tournament.  The Daily Wildcat
