- ➤ West University, one of Tucson’s oldest neighborhoods, will see nearly all streets and sidewalks receive ADA ramps, milling, and paving funded by Proposition 411 (a voter-approved sales tax), with work expected to finish by the end of July to improve accessibility and drainage for residents, students, and visitors. - ➤ The Town of Marana will host a free New Orleans Jazz Party featuring the Wildcat Jazz Band at the Ed Honea Marana Municipal Complex (5–7 p.m.) on Thursday, Feb. 19, as part of its Concerts in the Courtyard series, and families are invited to bring canned or pet food for the Marana Food Bank. - ➤ The University of Arizona will build a modular mineral processing facility at its San Xavier Underground Mining Laboratory (near Sahuarita) with $3 million in federal earmark funding. The facility is set to train next-generation metallurgical engineers and strengthen the mining workforce in the state. KVOA
- ➤ The Arizona School for the Deaf and the Blind board voted 5-2 to relocate its campus to Copper Creek Elementary School and trim teaching staff. Tensions arose during the meeting, and objections from 11 families did not stop the move. KVOA
