  • Hundreds gathered at St. Philips in the Hills Church in Tucson Wednesday night for a candlelight vigil and prayer service to support Nancy Guthrie and her family. The event was organized by Savannah Guthrie's close friends Sally Shamrell and Lisa Contreras.  KVOA

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Tucson Fire Department crews put out a small fire at Spanish Trail Motel on Friday night at 305 E. Benson Highway; no injuries were reported as firefighters used a deck gun, blitz monitor & aerial master stream in a mutual-aid call with South Tucson Fire Department.  KVOA

BUSINESS NEWS

  • A beloved South Tucson restaurant has reopened after a 2023 arson fire forced two years of rebuilding. The family-owned Crossroads Restaurant now welcomes customers at 2602 S. 4th Ave and operates Thursday through Monday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.  KGUN 9

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Arizona School for the Deaf and Blind approved more than 60 staffers for its campus move from Tucson to Oro, putting dozens at risk of layoff as relocation plans progress.  Arizona Daily Star
  • University of Arizona journalism students are learning to spot misinformation during News Literacy Week, with classes held on campus in Tucson. The course teaches them to check sources and evaluate headlines (a key skill in today’s digital age).  KGUN 9

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Wildcats trailed for five runs before scoring six in the sixth inning to edge the Sooners for an 11-6 win on February 6 in Tucson. Photos captured the comeback as the NCAA softball team rallied in a strong finish.  Arizona Daily Star
