  • The Tucson Fire Department, TMC for Children and the Tucson Police Department will host the 4th Annual Safety First Saturday on March 7 at Tucson Mall * the event features interactive booths, vehicle and safety demos, free car seat checks, and hands-on activities for children.  KVOA
  • News 4 Tucson hung a banner outside its station at 209 W. Elm St. inviting locals to leave supportive thoughts for Nancy Guthrie's family as the community rallies during her disappearance search.  KVOA
  • Jim Click, Jr has launched the 17th Millions for Tucson Raffle to help local charities, with ticket distribution for eligible nonprofits starting Feb. 23. They will raffle a 2026 Nissan Frontier Pro-4X Roush Edition, executive airline tickets, and $5K cash, with the drawing set for Thursday, Dec. 10.  KVOA

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The University of Arizona College of Science got a $5M donation from alumna Sarah Smallhouse to create an endowed deanship that will fund research, help students succeed, and support community programs. Dean Carmala Garzione said the big gift will boost the Fuel Wonder campaign.  KVOA

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A New Jersey-based home warranty company will pay $11.8 million to Arizona after state Attorney General Kris Mayes said it exploited local families, seniors and veterans with unclear promise details. The settlement requires the company to improve its sales practices and post clearer coverage terms.  Tucson Sentinel

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Ready. Set. Pickle! program at Oro Valley Community Center grew from five to 130 kids since last fall through a town partnership to offer an after-school sport that builds teamwork and discipline; the program runs twice a week.  KGUN 9
  • On Tuesday, the Aztecs swept Paradise Valley Community College with a 9 to 4 and 5 to 3 win, led by Mike Jones’ 6 hits in 7 at bats and home runs by Lorta and Kruk. The team will play a road doubleheader at Chandler-Gilbert Community College Saturday at noon.  Tucson Sentinel
