- ➤ The University of Arizona announced a 15-year $27.7 million naming rights deal with ALKEME Insurance, renaming its McKale Center to McKale Center at ALKEME Arena. - ➤ Tucson Airport Authority will conduct a full-scale emergency exercise on Feb. 25 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Tucson International Airport to meet FAA requirements (Delta Air Lines will test its Family Assistance and Reunification Plan) while regular operations continue. KGUN 9
- ➤ Tohono O'odham leaders warn that DHS plans to build a wall along the tribe's 62-mile border with Mexico, which would split their land nearly in half. - ➤ Rural Metro Fire began 24/7 operations at South Tucson’s fire station earlier this month, staffing four full-time firefighters (captain, engineer, and two firefighters) to replace a prior model that relied on one full-time captain and 30 part-timers; the change follows a City Council vote aimed at resolving staffing challenges.
