- ➤ The Homeless ID Project and ADOT MVD will soon operate a mobile kiosk in Tucson to give state IDs to those experiencing homelessness. Donated by Kyndryl, the kiosk expands services that have reached Southern Arizona since July 2023 (already operating in Phoenix). KVOA
- ➤ The Tucson Rodeo Parade Committee continues to preserve local history by organizing the annual rodeo parade through volunteer efforts (showcasing a legacy of community service). Its work keeps Tucson traditions alive. KOLD News 13
- ➤ Savannah Guthrie released a video on Feb. 24 saying her family is offering a reward of $1 million for tips to help find her missing mother Nancy and thanked those who have offered prayers. KOLD News 13
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Pima County is partnering with Tech Parks Arizona and University of Arizona centers to help Taiwanese semiconductor firm JSEDM join the UACI virtual program in March; the firm will test its machines at Tech Parks Arizona while the county sponsors its first six months (after a September Taiwan visit). - ➤ Tucson Unified School District held its 12th annual Black History Month Brain Bowl on Tuesday morning at Utterback Middle School (the host) where 11 teams from seven schools tested their knowledge of African American history and culture; Dodge Traditional Magnet won while Robins K-8 placed second. - ➤ The University of Arizona recently announced plans to sell its 80-acre Al-Marah Equine Center, which has served students for over a decade. After spring classes, equine programs will move to the Campus Agricultural Center at Campbell Ave and Roger Rd — sale proceeds will support a fund honoring Mrs. Tankersley's legacy. KGUN 9
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Drivers face a street closure on East 13th Street in downtown Tucson from 9 p.m. Feb. 26 to 5 a.m. Feb. 27 as crews move heavy roof sections to improve Armory Park (financed through Prop 407). Follow all traffic signs and use an alternate route. KVOA
- ➤ TEP warned that a proposed city takeover of its energy grid would cost over $4 billion and drive electric bills from $162 to $900 a year over 20 years (per a Brattle Group study). The CEO said the plan would burden taxpayers, risk service reliability, and divert focus from renewable municipal operations. KVOA

- ➤ The University of Arizona’s Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health will launch the Ending Pandemics Academy with a ($5M) gift from the Carlyle One Health Group to train leaders in disease prevention. The program is part of the ($3B) Fuel Wonder campaign that funds research and community work. KVOA
- ➤ Founder Kimberley Walker of Pima Paws for Life is in critical condition in hospital after a brain aneurysm, stroke and pneumonia. Her sister Alicia Carrizoza, now interim director, says the rescue urgently needs supplies from the community — donations are welcomed — as Walker continues fighting. KOLD News 13
