  • In the Saguaro Bloom community in Marana, neighbors say new construction is altering scenic desert views and raising worries about their open space; developer D.R. Horton says more than 80 acres have been preserved as natural open space per local guidelines.  KGUN 9

  • The 11th annual TenWest festival is bringing 1,000 entrepreneurs downtown for a six-day event that includes mixers, classes and a pitch competition with over $50,000 in prizes — promising growth for local businesses and the economy as the event runs through Sunday.  KGUN 9
  • Grocery stores in Tucson are experiencing higher transportation and delivery costs as diesel prices surge, and they warn that shoppers may soon face higher prices.  KOLD News 13

  • Tax experts warn that ghost preparers and AI chatbots could expose personal data as refunds grow; residents should verify tax preparer credentials (by checking the IRS Tax Preparer Directory) before filing returns.  KOLD News 13

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • City of Tucson has set aside $175,000 to offer rental assistance through case managers working with eligible clients via the Tucson Pima Collaboration to End Homelessness. Applicants must provide proof of need and have their case managers finish required online training as funds are distributed until fully used.  KGUN 9
  • Tucson International Airport launched a food drive to assist TSA employees (who are working without pay during a DHS funding lapse) by setting up multiple drop-off locations for essentials. The drive will continue as long as the funding lapse lasts.  KVOA
  • Arizona native and academic Dennis Coyle was released yesterday in Kabul by Taliban authorities on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr after a 14-month detention starting in January; U.S. officials noted that UAE and Qatar helped mediate the release.  KOLD News 13
  • Arizona’s Governor’s Office retained Sullivan & Cromwell (an international law firm) to prepare for a legal battle over Colorado River water rights; legal action will not begin until June if the state fails to reach an agreement with other basin states.  Tucson Sentinel

  • The Pima Community College track teams opened their outdoor season over Friday and Saturday at Paradise Valley CC Multi’s and Invitational—Tyra Christean set a national qualifying time in the 400-meter hurdles while freshman Nicholas Horrocks threw 56.15 meters.
