  • Tucson's K-9 Raven (a hero remembered for his service) will be honored at a national memorial ceremony in Washington to recognize his ultimate sacrifice; the event is set to take place soon.  KVOA

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum in Tucson earned AZA accreditation, the global gold standard in animal care and conservation. The multi-day inspection (covering animal wellbeing, conservation, and operations) confirmed its commitment since 1983.  KVOA
  • The University of Arizona Poetry Center and Downtown Tucson Partnership hosted the seventh annual Haiku Hike on March 21 in downtown Tucson, showcasing 20 haikus by local artists on acrylic signs next to native plants; visitors can enjoy the installations until June 1.  KVOA
  • Tucson hosts its inaugural Palo Verde Bloom Festival as Bloomfest kicks off today at Kino South Sports Complex from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The month-long celebration offers live music, local food, art and family activities plus includes the planned unveiling of Ignacio Garcia's Paula Verde mural.  KGUN 9

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Three senior scientists from the Planetary Science Institute were selected to join NASA’s Artemis Lunar Surface Science Team and will help plan geology operations for a lunar landing near the moon’s south pole. Their work will advance lunar research and prepare for future exploration.  KVOA
  • The University of Arizona starts its student government election season as presidential candidates draw most interest while several senate seats remain vacant, prompting targeted outreach. HEALTH NEWS

  • Tucson officials, the Pima County Health Department and the American Red Cross canvassed midtown near the Donna Liggins Recreation Center Friday morning to share heat safety tips as extreme temperatures loom — the outreach will continue through late April to help residents access cooling centers and avoid heat risks.  KGUN 9
