CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A Tucson man is held on a $1 million bond after he attacked Jacob Couch with a hatchet downtown last week, leaving Couch on life support and prompting his family to call for justice as they remember his kind nature. KGUN 9
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Drone footage captured breathtaking summer views on a trip up Mount Lemmon (9,159-foot summit in the Santa Catalina Mountains). The mountain is located in the Coronado National Forest north of Tucson. Arizona Daily Star
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The City Council voted to begin a study to see who might be hurt if free bus and streetcar rides stop and said it will look into other ways to fund the transit system without charging fares. The council also started planning to cut the low-rider Route 5—this change will need public talks and a shift in Route 22 to cover the gap. Arizona Daily Star
- ➤ Homeland Security has sent notices to legal migrants who used the CBP One app telling them to leave immediately or face fines, leaving people like Doralis in Tucson fearful for their future. The government will also share IRS taxpayer data to target undocumented immigrants, which has raised concern among immigrant and taxpayer advocates. Arizona Daily Star
