- ➤ The Ellie Towne Flowing Wells Community Center seeks donations to raise $45,000 for its A Plate Full of Care senior meals program for 2027 (serving 40 to 60 seniors Monday, Wednesday, and Friday) near Ruthrauff and Obetka. Funds will help guide a possible program expansion if reached. KGUN 9
- ➤ Tucson Subaru made a milestone donation to a local organization on Tuesday, Apr. 21 to support community programs, marking a significant effort to give back to Tucson residents. KOLD News 13
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Today at 12 p.m., Tucson Fire responded to a house fire on South Coconino Vista, rescuing a dog named Chico while crews fought the blaze to protect the main home (no injuries were reported) and brought the fire under control by 12:16 p.m. KGUN 9

- ➤ Pilot Jessica Cox, the world’s first licensed armless airplane pilot, will be inducted into the Arizona Aviation Hall of Fame on Friday, May 15 at the Pima Air & Space Museum from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. to honor her work in disability-led innovation. KGUN 9

- ➤ School superintendents say UA’s outreach efforts are falling short in recruiting first-generation college students + they stress that boosting recruitment is key to keeping local talent in the community. Arizona Daily Star
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Pima County reported on Jan. 27 that 2,130 individuals faced homelessness in Tucson - 73.1% were unsheltered and 829 were chronically homeless. Deeper analysis will be released later this year. KVOA
- ➤ The Pima County Board approved $855K in Short-Term Crisis and Emergency Resources grants to support local organizations offering food, housing and other basic services for residents affected by federal changes. Awards ranging from $25K to $75K were approved on Tuesday. KGUN 9
