ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A fire broke out at a lithium battery manufacturer on East Elvira Road in Tucson today at 11:47 a.m. and the Tucson Fire Department arrived five minutes later to remove the batteries, decontaminate their gear, and control the fire by 12:08 p.m. (no injuries were reported). KVOA
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Tucson Police charged three teens—14-year-old Isaac Robert Morgan-Rodriguez, 19-year-old Isaiah Angel Salazar, and 17-year-old Malachi Robert Monroe—with 1st Degree Murder and Armed Robbery after a fatal shooting on March 19 at Fort Lowell Park that left driver Cameron Laurens Foster dead; Isaac and Isaiah were arrested on April 21 and Malachi was booked the following day. - ➤ On April 20th, Tucson police responded to a shooting at an apartment complex on East Milton Road where they found Fernando Issac Pablos (33) fatally wounded after a confrontation, and on April 21st detectives arrested Ambar Esthela Morales (33) on felony murder and first-degree burglary charges while she is held on a $1,000,000 bond at Pima County Jail. - ➤ A 51-year-old man riding an electric cycle was killed Tuesday when he collided with a vehicle backing out of a driveway on Tucson's northwest side+ authorities are investigating whether speed was a factor in the crash. Arizona Daily Star
- ➤ Authorities (Tucson Police) are searching for a missing 35-year-old woman (Hoi Kei Woo, also known as Patricia) last seen on Mount Lemmon. KVOA

- ➤ Live Nation will open a Punch Line Comedy Club downtown at 119 E. Toole St following $2.1 million in renovations approved by Rio Nuevo — the venue will host about eight shows a week and reserve spots for local comedians. Arizona Daily Star
- ➤ Tony Ozuna, a Tucson native who built a mariachi community in Chicago, is returning home to teach at the 43rd annual Tucson International Mariachi Conference now taking place at the Tucson Convention Center. Local educators and former students say mariachi helped them build teamwork and communication skills that shaped their careers in education, with the event running from April 23—26. KGUN 9

- ➤ The Tucson City Council will appoint a replacement for Councilman Richard Fimbres, who announced a May 1 resignation due to health issues. Applicants must submit a letter of interest, resumé, and financial disclosure by 9 a.m. May 1 and meet Ward 5 residency requirements—candidates not running in November are preferred. - ➤ Mayor Regina Romero and the City Council approved $4.3M in grants to help provide affordable housing and social services for vulnerable residents; $2.2M will fund human services while $2.1M will support housing projects. Twenty organizations will run 29 projects to tackle homelessness, food shortages, and rising rents (with nearly $300K for homelessness and domestic violence projects and $505K for low-income services). - ➤ A Gilbert-based nonprofit donated five ballistic vests to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department K-9 Unit to protect dogs like Raya, Ivo, Ryder, Bullitt and Pablo; each vest—with a custom fit and breathable design for Arizona’s heat—is expected to last up to 10 years. KOLD News 13
