ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A 60-year-old man died on April 24 after his car collided on Tucson's east side on April 17 when he failed to yield while turning left—police said—that a woman driving a Dodge Challenger suffered minor injuries. Arizona Daily Star
- ➤ A fatal crash occurred in Tucson on April 23 at the intersection of Old Spanish Trail and Houghton Road when a Ford Escape and a Toyota Tacoma collided, killing 45-year-old Joshua James Kirk while the 21-year-old Ford driver was ticketed for running a red light—Tucson Police are investigating the case for potential additional charges. - ➤ The Pima County Sheriff’s Department Search and Rescue Unit ended its six-day search for 35-year-old Hoi Kei Woo — known as Patricia — after her car was found at Windy Point on Catalina Highway on April 20 following her last sighting on April 18. The department is asking the public for any new information and will resume the search if needed. KVOA
- ➤ Inmate Ricky Wassenaar killed three inmates on April 4 at the Cimarron Unit after he was moved to a lower-security prison, and critics say the move—by lowering safety—made his attack possible while officials said officers acted fast. Arizona Daily Star

- ➤ Reggie Brooks is honoring his late son, Alexander Brooks, with the first Memorial Scholarship Dinner on May 1 at JTED @ The Bridges, where high school automotive technology students will be awarded $1,000 scholarships to support post-secondary studies. In Ward 3, incumbent Kevin Dahl and challenger Sadie Shaw submitted detailed reports while candidates in other wards noted similar fundraising and spending ahead of the Aug. 5 primary election. - ➤ Lawmakers passed HB2945 and Governor Hobbs signed it into law to give the Division of Developmental Disabilities more than $525 million from federal and Medicaid funds for services through this fiscal year—this decision came after months of debate and aims to support families needing critical care.
