ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Tucson Fire Department crews battled brush fires at 1124 N. 14th Ave on Sunday night + the fires, reported at 6:58 p.m., were controlled by 7:18 a.m. with no injuries and prevented from spreading to a nearby lumber yard. KGUN 9
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Three local artists have begun working on a mural celebrating women's contributions in the El Presidio Historic District. The mural — spanning the side of a two-story building at W. Washington St. and N. Court Ave. — will be complete in about two weeks after careful planning and research. KGUN 9
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Tech Launch Arizona produced $459.7 million in economic output and supported 3,070 jobs (fiscal year 2025) per an independent report. The U of A commercialization office says it will boost output, labor income and tax revenues further through 2030. KVOA

- ➤ Arizona DOT is urging Tucson drivers to secure trailer chains, check tire pressure and avoid parking on dry grass as wildfire risk climbs. Motorists should pack an emergency kit with water, snacks and sun protection in case of highway closures. KVOA
- ➤ Efforts continue to restore the Santa Cruz River (from Marana to northern Mexico) by removing invasive species that limit water flow and native plants. Teams are managing ongoing removal and maintenance to support a functioning ecosystem. Tucson Sentinel

- ➤ Tucson firefighters used an ATV to reach a small fire at Fantasy Island Bike Park near Pantano and Irvington over the weekend and to cut response time in rough terrain they navigate with a tool that has been in service for four years (costing $52,000 each). KGUN 9
- ➤ State and federal lawmakers are considering a temporary gas tax suspension that could save Arizona drivers (up to 36 cents per gallon) amid record fuel prices. Officials warn that halting gas taxes may delay funding for road projects and maintenance. KOLD News 13
- ➤ Tucson’s Department of Housing and Community Development seeks proposals from organizations to build facilities in Thrive in the 05 as part of the Choice Neighborhoods Implementation grant.
