- ➤ Yesterday, NW YMCA hosted a free 30-minute swim lesson from 4 to 7 p.m. as part of News 4 Tucson Lifesaver Swimfest — advance registration is open for the next event on May 28 at Lohse YMCA. KVOA
- ➤ On Saturday, a community sewing event organized by Queer Girls Pantry and Crafting Resilience assembled volunteers off I-10 — a project to produce reusable menstrual products amid rising prices — and stitched 127 pads, with plans for another session to reach 156 for local distribution. - ➤ University of Arizona fraternity Sigma Phi Epsilon has been suspended from activities after hazing allegations emerged — it is the fourth fraternity to face such discipline in the last two weeks. Arizona Daily Star

- ➤ A Pima County official said the levee at the Casita Village at La Mariposa housing project is FEMA certified, even though neighbors and independent experts dispute the claim. FEMA said it has not certified any flood control structure in the area and officials will clarify which levee meets federal standards. KOLD News 13
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ El Rio Health celebrated the pre-grand opening of its new Stone Health Center in Tucson, one of the largest community health centers in the country. KVOA
- ➤ A second Arizonan linked to the MV Hondius cruise ship hantavirus outbreak is being evaluated in Nebraska & will be monitored locally upon return, state health officials said, with the outbreak now totaling 11 cases, nine of which are confirmed. KOLD News 13
