- ➤ About 60 bicyclists participated in Tucson’s annual Ride of Silence (honoring cyclists who died or were injured) Wednesday evening from Reid Park. The eight-mile ride was organized by the Greater Arizona Bicycling Association and had police and Bike Patrol support to help with road safety. KGUN 9
- ➤ South Tucson awarded a $30K grant to the Tucson League of Mexican-American Women on May 19 for a project to document Latinx historic sites and cultural traditions in the city — a step aimed at preserving local heritage. - ➤ Officials expanded the evacuation order for Oracle after the Cody Fire started on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.—residents in zones 5, 16, 17, 18, and 19 must leave immediately while those in zones 4 and 15 and San Manuel residents should prepare to evacuate, with the Mammoth Community Center serving as the evacuation center as crews and ADOT respond. - ➤ Arizona GOP legislators, Rep. Walt Blackman and Rep. Teresa Martinez, urged state and federal lawmakers to take additional steps to address the crisis of missing and murdered Indigenous peoples following the signing of a bill that will create a Turquoise Alert System for missing Native people—emphasizing that better agency coordination is needed to support affected communities.
