- ➤ Marriott and developers Scott Stiteler and Rudy Dabdoub plan a new Moxy Hotel for downtown Tucson that will offer 134 rooms in a six-story building designed for young travelers, featuring compact, Instagrammable spaces and a bar check-in. The $33 million project will break ground early next year and be built over 18 months—Rio Nuevo will address the proposal at a June 10 meeting at 1 p.m. to finalize funding details. - ➤ In 1870, seven nuns from the Sisters of St. Joseph walked 400 miles in 19 days from San Diego to Tucson, facing harsh desert conditions—Sister Monica Corrigan recorded the journey in a short diary. - ➤ Saguaros in Tucson are blooming unusually with flowers sprouting along their sides as well as at their tips—experts say the display, not seen since 2021, may be linked to factors like drought and heat.
