  • Tucson Police and TPD SWAT arrested a male for aggravated assault after officers searched a home near 2300 S. McConnell Dr. late Saturday and detained him Sunday morning around 10:30 a.m.—no injuries were reported.  KGUN 9
  • A fatal hit-and-run accident occurred Saturday, May 24 near Ajo Way and Palo Verde — a 63-year-old pedestrian died at the scene and authorities are looking for a vehicle with front-end damage.  KOLD News 13

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Firefighters had increased the Cody Fire’s containment from 5% to 47% in Oracle after it ignited on May 21 and burned 1,223 acres in the northern Santa Catalina Mountains—evacuation orders remained in effect and crews created 66 feet of separation while a community meeting held on Sunday at Biosphere 2 provided further updates.  Tucson Sentinel

  • FC Tucson beat Redlands FC 2-1 on Saturday night at Kino North Stadium—Ismael Ruiz scored first and José Montealegre added a late goal. The win puts FC Tucson at the top of the conference table with 6 points after two matches.  Tucson Sentinel
  • The University of Arizona baseball team won its first Big 12 Championship title in its debut season when it beat TCU in a tense 10-inning final at Globe Life Field—Mason White was named Most Outstanding Player and the win earned the Wildcats an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.  The Daily Wildcat
