- ➤ Legendary actor Danny Trejo joins the cast of 'Choir Practice,' an action-crime thriller set in Tucson that will finish filming tomorrow. The film follows a tale of a priest, a migrant, local cops and an international drug gang, with scenes shot in Tucson, Marana, Catalina + Nogales and most of its cast and crew from Arizona. KVOA

- ➤ At a TUSD board meeting, members voted to place a $45M funding proposal on the November ballot so voters can decide if the district will exceed state funding limits to boost school programs and teacher pay. If approved, homeowners may experience a tax increase of $1.02 per $100 of net assessed value, costing about $204 extra per year on a $200,000 home. KVOA

- ➤ A study by Arizona State University found that groundwater loss in the Colorado River Basin tripled in the last ten years because of extra pumping in southeast and northwest Arizona — the loss threatens water supplies, food production, and local jobs. - ➤ Southern Arizona tribes were given another chance to challenge the SunZia energy transmission line that will cross their ancestral lands after the Ninth Circuit reversed a trial judge's dismissal by applying the correct historic preservation standards & ordering a new review of the case. The tribes and partnering groups argue that the Bureau of Land Management did not properly assess impacts on historic sites when approving the project. Tucson Sentinel
- ➤ Roadway repair work on Sixth Avenue between Drexel Road and Valencia Road began Tuesday, May 27 when crews lowered manhole covers and used flaggers to direct drivers. Beginning the week of June 2, only one lane will be open as crews remove old asphalt and repave the roadway — the project will finish by mid-June, weather permitting. KGUN 9
