- ➤ Starting June 1 until August 31, Tucson will offer free cooling centers open daily from noon to 4 p.m. to help residents escape the heat; some locations have cleaning schedules that may change regular hours, such as Donna R. Liggins Center (2160 N 6th Ave) closing from July 28 to August 2. City of Tucson
- ➤ Sixteen University of Arizona architecture graduates designed a 96-square-foot micro-shelter for Tucson’s unhoused as part of their final capstone project—community partners say the design may serve as a model for more shelters soon. KGUN 9

- ➤ On May 24th — after Hector Lara smelled burning while working with his brother — flames destroyed his decades-old, family-run auto body shop on the southeast side, leaving only charred cars and melted tools as Rural Metro Fire Department contained the blaze and Lara now seeks a new shop with estimated damages over $20,000 and no insurance. - ➤ A pedestrian suffered life-threatening injuries in a hit-and-run accident on May 30 at the intersection of East 32nd Street and South Alvernon Way—police said the driver fled the scene and the intersection was closed for several hours. KOLD News 13

- ➤ The Boys & Girls Club in Tucson is offering an affordable summer camp for kids ages 7 to 17 that runs weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. for $70 a season—students can learn STEM skills, life skills and career training while enjoying fun activities outside of electronics. KGUN 9
