  • The Tucson Conquistadores held a raffle to fund local youth sports programs, offering a 2027 Chevrolet Bolt EV as the prize. The drawing took place yesterday.  KVOA
  • Volunteers gathered Saturday morning in South Tucson for the Día del Barrio event hosted by Barrio Restoration at an empty lot on 40th Street — South Sixth Avenue. The group plans to plant trees, grow food and build a community space for neighborhood activities.  KGUN 9
  • A new basketball court honoring Judith Mama Blair opened in Tucson's Eastside on May 30; community members gathered and Joseph Blair attended the unveiling to highlight its role as a local sports and recreation hub.  KVOA

  • A new Trader Joe’s is set to open in midtown Tucson soon; it will be the chain’s fifth store in the area.  Arizona Daily Star
  • Sydney's Sweet Shoppe expanded its presence with a new northwest location that held a grand opening at Oracle & Ina on Saturday. The Tucson pie shop offered treats including strawberry shortcake and banana cream pie to welcome local customers.  KGUN 9

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • A wildfire has grown to 20 acres along Mt. Lemmon Highway, with no evacuations or threat to homes — firefighters are using ground crews and helicopter rappellers to battle the blaze.  KVOA

HEALTH NEWS

  • Arizona officials have expanded the fish consumption advisory to include *forever chemicals* linked to serious health risks after tests revealed contamination in fish from select locations, and residents are encouraged to check local guidelines.  KVOA

SPORTS NEWS

  • Today, Tucson unveiled the new Judith 'Mama' Blair Basketball Courts at Palo Verde Park to honor the late mother of NBA G League coach Joseph Blair. The modern courts feature LED lighting and bleachers — they will serve as the official home venue for Kellond Elementary’s basketball team.  KGUN 9
  • Nearly 3,000 runners raced through downtown for the TMC Meet Me Downtown 5K. Sponsored by Tucson Medical Center, the race brought together participants of all ages and experience levels in a lively celebration of community health.  KGUN 9
  • FC Tucson remains unbeaten as it shut out the Southern California Eagles 2 to 0 on May 30 in Tucson. The team kept opponents scoreless while building momentum for upcoming matches.  Arizona Daily Star
