CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Three people were arrested after a protest at the immigration building turned violent when some individuals vandalized nearby businesses and assaulted security personnel—power washers later removed graffiti from the building while police continued investigating the incident. KVOA
- ➤ Baltazar Quintero-Bueno was sentenced to seven years in jail by Pima County Superior Court for his role in a major fentanyl trafficking operation—he pleaded guilty after 73.3 pounds of fentanyl pills and multiple firearms were found and he must pay $4,500 to each state fund. KVOA
- ➤ Congressional candidate Daniel Hernandez said that on June 12 shots were fired near his Tucson home, where his campaign headquarters is based, and that one of his staffers’ vehicles was hit as bullet casings were found in the area+ Tucson police are investigating the incident with no arrests made so far. - ➤ Four people were charged Wednesday after shots were fired at an undercover officer’s car in North Stone — East Fort Lowell as detectives charged 19-year-old Hassan Omar Kassim, 20-year-old Jaquvon Terell Poe, 18-year-old Daniel Cardenas and 19-year-old Alexandra Brooke Wisdom while the officer was unharmed. - ➤ A former Pima County supervisor has been banned from all University of Arizona property after being charged with two counts of misdemeanor assault. KOLD News 13

- ➤ La Rosa, a new entertainment venue at 800 N. Country Club Road, will open in October and has released its first wave of concerts & events. The schedule includes Orkesta Mendoza on Oct. 10, Calexico on Oct. 17, and Carl Bernstein on Nov. 2 along with many other local and international acts. Tucson Weekly

- ➤ The University of Arizona got rid of a $177 million deficit without raising tuition and shared a plan for student success, research, and community help during a meeting with the Arizona Board of Regents on Thursday. The plan deals with issues like fewer international students and tougher federal grants and includes a $20 million gift for study abroad. KOLD News 13
