  • Cochise County Search and Rescue volunteers meet each month in the Sonoran Desert to train for emergency rescues in harsh, hot conditions. The 60-member team—comprising retirees, teachers and law enforcement—practices skills like dog team and water rescues to help lost hikers and injured travelers.  KGUN 9

CRIME NEWS

  • On Saturday, police arrested 71-year-old Jesus Torres in Tucson's southside in connection with a hit and run on May 24 that killed 63-year-old Robert Netherton—Torres admitted to the incident and was booked on a count of Leaving The Scene Accident Involving Serious Injury or Death.  KVOA

EDUCATION NEWS

  • On May 27th, the University of Arizona announced it would merge seven cultural centers into one multicultural hub—many students say the change erases their unique identities and safe spaces.
