- ➤ Today, Tucson Parks and Recreation and the Pima Animal Care Center launched a pilot program that puts microchip scanners in two park sites to help reunite lost pets with their owners—scanners are available on weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. KGUN 9

- ➤ The Pima County Sheriff's Department confirmed that a Cessna 150 crashed near Green Valley on June 19 at 4:45 p.m. leaving two people dead, and investigators from FAA+NTSB are working to reach the remote crash site. KVOA

- ➤ Anchor Bar, birthplace of Buffalo wings in 1964, will open its first Arizona location in Tucson this fall at a former Brushfire BBQ restaurant on East 22nd Street and South Kolb Road. Owner Doug Perry will finish the 6,800-square-foot buildout that includes a 1,300-square-foot patio + memorabilia from the original restaurant and plans to show sports on 58 TVs + serve jumbo wings with bleu cheese. - ➤ A Texas man, Grzegorz Vandenberg, was arrested in Tucson near Davis-Monthan Air Force Base after he allegedly bought explosives in New Mexico on June 12 to target law enforcement during California riots—he purchased six mortars and 36 large fireworks and now faces federal charges for transporting explosives with harmful intent. - ➤ Today, We Care Tucson is hosting its third Tech Robotics Camp for underserved youth to learn science, technology, engineering and math through hands-on projects—campers build a robotic arm using gaming controllers at the nonprofit’s northside headquarters. - ➤ As monsoon begins in Tucson, local landscaper Madeline Ryder uses rainwater harvesting to save water and money. Her system collected 400 gallons from a storm (showing its efficiency) and Tucson Water’s rebate program reimburses up to $2,000 for residential installations. KGUN 9
- ➤ More than a dozen environmental groups have urged a review of the Forest Service's draft EIS for South32's Hermosa Mine—arguing that the plan does not fully assess impacts on the ecologically rich Patagonia Mountains. - ➤ Animal advocates celebrated as the Senate and House passed SB 1658, a bill that requires pet owners to provide proper food, water and shelter to protect animals from neglect and abuse — the bill now goes to Governor Hobbs for review. KGUN 9
- ➤ The Arizona Senate ended its session after passing a $17.6 billion budget on Thursday night and early Friday, leaving the House to vote on the plan by June 30 to avoid a government shutdown.
