- ➤ A 4-year-old boy reported missing Tuesday morning near West Valencia Road and South Cardinal Avenue drowned in a pool on the 6000 block of South Plaza del Perdiz—deputies later found him unresponsive and he died at the hospital as investigators continue their work. Arizona Daily Star

- ➤ A man was arrested on Monday after taking a Tucson Fire Department rescue truck during a call when crews were caring for a patient — police located the truck at St. Joseph's Hospital and detained suspect Matthew Lolley, who said he took it because he was constipated. KGUN 9
- ➤ Avanti Antonio Pitko, 27, was sentenced to 54 1/2 years in prison on July 8 after pleading guilty to second-degree murder, burglary, and arson for shooting Bailea Rae McDermott in her Tucson home in April 2023—he admitted the crime following a failed attempt to secure an exclusive relationship with her sister. - ➤ Plans for a new border wall in the San Rafael Valley have sparked concerns that it may damage a crucial jaguar migration corridor—environmental groups warn that endangered jaguars and ocelots could lose key habitat.
