- ➤ PACC—Pima Animal Care Center—is hosting its biggest free pet adoption event called Dog Days of Summer today at its Westside facility on 4000 N. Silverbell Road with extended hours from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. The event offers kids games and raffles from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and free items for adopted pets—life jackets for dogs and blankets for cats as supplies last. - ➤ Tucson received $4.8M from a national legal settlement to fight PFAS pollution that forced nearly 40 wells to close and cost millions in repairs—city officials expect nearly $30M more to help restore safe water as Tucson Water builds new treatment plants. This funding will support ongoing efforts to manage groundwater contamination and improve water quality. KVOA
- ➤ An endangered Grevy’s zebra gave birth at Tucson’s Reid Park Zoo early Tuesday morning — the foal was seen standing and walking shortly after birth. Zoo director Adam Ramsey said the birth will help preserve the species — which now numbers fewer than 3,000 in the wild. Arizona Daily Star

- ➤ On July 10th, a Tucson resident won the $291,000 Fantasy 5 Jackpot with a ticket bought at Safeway at 2060, 1767 E. Prince Road — officials said the winner must submit a Winner Claim Form with a signed ticket and photo ID either by mail or in person at the Tucson Arizona Lottery office from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays. - ➤ Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs signed Senate Bill 1658 — known as Jerry’s Law — on June 27 at the Papago Park campus with animal advocates and rescued pets, including a paralyzed chocolate Labrador named Jerry and a special needs dog named Butters. The law expands protections against animal cruelty by requiring owners to provide food, water, and shelter and will go into effect Sept. 26 to help first responders act faster. Tucson Sentinel
- ➤ Pima County is reopening early voting locations as emergency centers today and Monday to allow more in-person voting ahead of the special Congressional District 7 primary on July 15 following Rep.
