- ➤ Some Eastside Tucson residents oppose a planned 24-hour Circle K gas station at the southwest corner of Tanque Verde and Houghton Roads due to flood, traffic and environmental concerns. Local officials and neighborhood groups are reviewing the project — many say it does not match the area's rural character. KGUN 9

- ➤ During a traffic stop near Grant Road + the freeway, Westside Community Response Team officers seized a suspected drug dealer's stolen handgun, fentanyl pills, powder cocaine, another loaded firearm, and nearly $10,000 in cash before booking him on felony charges. KVOA
- ➤ Police responded to Tumamoc Hill after a report of a person with a weapon while UA officials advised avoiding the area as authorities tracked a suspect (a white male in his 40s, 6'2" with sandy hair who wore an olive green long sleeve shirt, black pants and a black mask and was last seen heading toward the top with a firearm). - ➤ An updated map of the Dragon Bravo Fire was published on July 13—local officials said it shows the fire’s current boundaries and progress, and they will update the map as response efforts continue to protect nearby communities. KVOA
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Tucson residents in Congressional District 7 can vote early for the special primary election at emergency voting sites on July 14 to choose a new congressman after Raúl Grijalva’s passing (March 13). They may also vote on Election Day, July 15, at 58 vote centers open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. with ballot drop boxes available (hours vary) and winners moving on to a special general election on Sept. 23. - ➤ Today, the City of Tucson released a draft development agreement for Project Blue—a $3.6 billion data center initiative that will boost water and energy systems with a $100 million investment in the Tucson Water reclaimed system and create new jobs. Public meetings to discuss the project are set for July 23 and July 31, with annexation review on August 19 and construction scheduled to begin late 2025 or early 2026. KVOA
- ➤ Today, Pima County has provided online resources for Tucson voters in the CD7 Special Primary Election with 58 vote centers open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Early ballot results and turnout figures will be posted after 8 p.m. — officials confirmed vote tabulators passed a security test on June 13 — ensuring all early ballots are counted correctly.
