- ➤ Tech. Sgt. Harold Lynn Seifreid was laid to rest with full military honors at Arizona Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery in Marana (after scientists identified his remains by DNA and other evidence) 80 years after his B-24 bomber was shot down over Southeast Asia in 1943. His family chose the local burial so relatives could easily visit and honor him on special days. Arizona Daily Star
- ➤ More than 400 people gathered downtown Friday evening to see four new murals that celebrate Tucson’s 250th birthday and its long history—each mural shows a different part of the local past. The project was organized by the Rio Nuevo District, Mayor’s Office, Visit Tucson, Downtown Tucson Partnership and Presidio Museum with a cost of $108,000. Arizona Daily Star

- ➤ Tucson Police arrested Luke Davis, aged 32, on July 25 in connection with the fatal stabbing of Casandrah Poole whose body was found near a wash on Stella Road and Wilmot Road on March 13, 2024—he is now held without bond at Pima County Jail. KGUN 9

- ➤ Night Ops — formerly known as Night Wings — wrapped up its summer session with a photography and art night at Pima Air & Space Museum and Tucson Military Vehicle Museum on July 26 as visitors captured images of aircraft and military vehicles. - ➤ At Tucson's immigration court, 14-year-old Karla, who arrived unaccompanied from Guatemala, faced tough questions and was given a new hearing date in November to decide if she will seek legal help or return home— while Arizona’s only legal aid nonprofit for migrant minors stopped taking new cases due to contract cuts. Local advocates have formed a volunteer task force to train attorneys and help fill the gap in legal support for these vulnerable children. Arizona Daily Star
- ➤ Tucson officials said a mix-up in the voter registration list sent up to 1,294 wrong-party ballots to voters in Wards 3, 5, and 6 for the Aug. 5 primary—City Clerk’s Office staff are working with the Recorder’s Office to fix the error and offer replacement ballots before voting begins.
