- ➤ Taylor Moore celebrated his 93rd birthday Monday by hiking Tumamoc Hill — a route he treks three times a week. About 50 community members joined him with gifts and kind wishes as he honored his past Air Force service and shared his enduring passion for the trail. KGUN 9
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum announced plans to build a new Mexican gray wolf habitat that will let visitors walk through a tunnel into a circular viewing area with the wolves at its center. The project is estimated to cost about $5 million—$3.4 million has been raised so far—and construction will start early next year once the design is finalized and permits are secured. - ➤ Today, Tucson voters may cast their ballots in the City Council primary election + polling stations are open as scheduled. KOLD News 13
- ➤ At a heated meeting Monday evening at Tucson Convention Center, over 1,000 locals argued about Project Blue, a plan to build a data center that raised concerns about water use while some groups backed its promise of jobs and tax money. The City Council will review the proposal on Wednesday and vote on it on August 19 (the decision rests with Mayor Regina Romero and the council). KVOA
- ➤ On Monday, Aug. 4, Tucson held an in-person public meeting from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Tucson Convention Center’s Grand Ballroom at 260 S. Church Ave to discuss Project Blue, a proposed data center near the Pima County Fairgrounds. The meeting provided residents with details and an opportunity to share their views. Tucson Sentinel

- ➤ The Pima County Health Department warned food trucks and restaurants that storing food above 41 degrees in triple-digit heat can raise the risk of foodborne illness — local business owners are urged to attend a forum on Aug. 14 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. to learn proper temperature practices.
