  • Today, the Salvation Army Hospitality House in Midtown opens as a cooling center amid record heat, offering showers, laundry, hot meals and snacks from noon to 5 p.m. Volunteers deliver essentials such as water, soda and hygiene products to unsheltered residents—critical support when temperatures reach 110+ degrees.  KVOA

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Crews responded to a large house fire at 15301 North Oracle Road in Pima County on August 6—officials have not reported any further details.  KOLD News 13

CRIME NEWS

  • Authorities said two people were found dead in a Tucson home on Wednesday, Aug. 6 at 4:33 p.m. on the 1000 block of East Henrick Drive (near Fort Lowell and Park) and that the investigation is ongoing with no signs of foul play.  KOLD News 13
  • Authorities in Tucson are offering a $1,000 reward for tips that lead to the arrest of Josue Javier Mejia Rodriguez, a 34-year-old man wanted on charges including armed robbery with a deadly weapon, discharge of a firearm at a nonresidence, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon or dangerous instrument, theft of means of transportation, and discharge of a firearm in city limits; tips can be submitted anonymously by calling 88-CRIME.  KVOA
  • Tucson police are searching for 91-year-old Ramon Batista, who was last seen around 6:00 p.m. near 22nd Street and Columbus Boulevard (he is 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighs 140 pounds, and was wearing a black ball cap, blue long-sleeve shirt, and gray pants) and are urging anyone who sees him to call 911 immediately.  KVOA

  • Nightfall returns to Old Tucson this fall with a new storyline featuring Dabney the Clown and fresh offerings including an immersive light and sound show at the Old Mission + a family-friendly Booville Bash, haunted houses, and a scare zone. The event runs from October 2 through November 1 and tickets go on sale today.  KGUN 9

  • After residents voiced strong opposition, the Tucson City Council voted 7-0 Wednesday to cancel Project Blue by pulling the annexation—forcing developer Beale Infrastructure to seek an alternative site outside city limits.  KVOA
