ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A 24-year-old woman died in an early morning single-vehicle crash on West Roger Road when a speeding and impaired driver lost control of his 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe, hitting a block wall and a parked car while the 26-year-old driver sustained minor injuries and received treatment at Banner University Medical Center.  KVOA

  • Tucson police investigated a fatal shooting at Hideout Bar on South Mission Road near Ajo Way, where an adult male was pronounced dead early Sunday morning—detectives are gathering additional details.  KVOA
  • Ward 2 City Councilman Paul Cunningham stopped a shoplifter at a Walgreens on the Eastside Friday night.  KVOA

EDUCATION NEWS

  • School boards around Tucson will vote on new rules for cell phone use, computer filtering, and mandatory abuse reporting to meet new state laws, while several districts update budgets and student programs. Oro Valley Town Council will vote on using part of its sales tax revenue for town operations (capital investments and debt service).  Tucson Sentinel

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Today, the Tucson city council voted 5-2 to keep Sun Tran, Sun Link & other transit free instead of reinstating fares, which last generated revenue in the 2018-19 fiscal year. Mayor Regina Romero and some council members now plan to explore a ballot initiative to fund transit improvements.  Arizona Daily Star
