- ➤ Tucson Police Department is asking for help finding vulnerable adult Teodoro Sanchez, 79, who went missing on Aug. 4—and is described as 5'4, 135 lbs, with brown eyes and brown/gray hair—and may have a flip cellular phone with him. KGUN 9

- ➤ Officials opened the bicentennial time capsule on August 20 at the Tucson Museum of Art—recovering records, books, newspapers and personal papers buried in 1976 and linked to the city’s 250th anniversary—and the items will soon be displayed for the public. Arizona Daily Star

- ➤ Finnegan McGill, 17, of Tucson was awarded a $25,000 Davidson Fellows Scholarship for his innovative project A-BiRD — an automated bird recognition device that identifies species by their songs. His device logged over 21,000 birdsong events across 98 species during fall migration and will assist global bird conservation efforts. KVOA
- ➤ Arizona State Rep. Kevin Volk brought back-to-school supplies from two town halls to Tucson nonprofit Youth on Their Own on Wednesday— the supplies include food, hygiene and other basic items to help homeless youth stay in school. KGUN 9
- ➤ OLLI-UA will launch its fall semester with over 250 classes in Tucson, Green Valley and online for adults age 50 and older—classes start September 15 in Tucson and September 30 in Green Valley, covering topics from astronomy to literature to help keep minds active and promote socializing. - ➤ Tucson City Council unanimously approved a water-use ordinance that requires new businesses using at least 90 million gallons a year to file conservation plans with Tucson Water, aiming to safeguard the city’s water supply.
