GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Today, the RTA board approved the final RTA Next plan and will send it to the Board of Supervisors to schedule March elections; if voters pass it, the plan will provide $688 million in transit funding over 20 years for bus and tram services. Tucson Mayor Regina Romero and council members warned that without this funding, transit services may face cuts—putting daily mobility at risk. Tucson Sentinel
- ➤ RTA will propose the RTA Next plan today that sets aside nearly $263 million to complete unfinished road and bike projects, including improvements on Grant Road and 1st Avenue. The board will vote on the plan and then ask Pima County Supervisors to add a long-term transit measure on the March 2026 ballot—changes that reflect lower-than-expected regional growth—while addressing past cost overruns. - ➤ Today the RTA Board is set to vote to ask the Pima County Board of Supervisors to place the RTA Next plan on the March 2026 ballot.
