- ➤ Tucson Police Detectives are asking the public to help identify two people linked to a homicide that occurred earlier this month, and anyone with information should call 911 or 88-CRIME—callers may remain anonymous. KGUN 9
- ➤ Tucson police arrested Jazmin Montano-Granados (27) for a fatal hit-and-run on August 10 near East 22nd Street and South Park Avenue after her SUV left the scene where pedestrian Izaah Josiah Ahley (25) died. KGUN 9

- ➤ BASIS Tucson North was ranked the best public high school in the nation for the 2025-2026 school year by U.S. News and World Report—this tuition-free charter school offers a rigorous curriculum to about 760 students in grades 5 to 12 in Tucson. KGUN 9
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Federal, state, Pima County and Tucson offices, courts, banks, public libraries, schools, the DMV and emissions centers will be closed on Labor Day Monday while municipal offices in southern towns are also closed and many retailers remain open for normal hours—the Pima Area Labor Federation will hold its annual picnic from 9 a.m. to noon at the Georges DeMeester Performance Center and transit services will run on adjusted schedules. - ➤ The City of Tucson extended its cooling centers hours from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. until the end of September as temperatures are forecast to rise again—residents can reach centers along Sun Tran bus routes at several locations. KVOA
