ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A 25-year-old woman died when her Buick struck a tow truck near East Drexel Road and South Palo Verde Road early Saturday, injuring three others—investigators suspect speed and impairment, according to the Pima County Sheriff's Department.  KGUN 9

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Beale Infrastructure has not answered questions about securing water for its planned 290-acre data center near the Pima County Fairgrounds after the Tucson City Council vetoed its initial water supply plan—four alternatives, including drilling wells, buying long-term storage credits, and switching to water-saving cooling, are being considered by officials who say the decision will affect local water use. Future steps depend on the developer’s choice as local experts stress that the method will impact nearby aquifers.  Arizona Daily Star

  • Daniel Hollander entered Legacy Traditional School armed with a knife and a gun in January and later pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor for possessing a weapon on school property with an 18-month prison sentence and 10 years’ probation — Tucson police and the Pima County Attorney’s Office continue to quarrel over the lenient sentence and concerns about Hollander’s Miranda rights.  Arizona Daily Star

  • On Aug. 28 at 11:20 a.m., multiple agencies helped serve a search warrant on Tucson’s southside where shots were fired—one DEA agent was injured and one person died with officials saying there is no current public threat.  KVOA
  • At a Sahuarita town hall meeting, a speaker made satirical comments linking a recent police arrest of video blogger James (alias Freeman) during a deposition in the Pastor Aiken lawsuit to violent remarks that coincided with earlier clashes at the police department, and local officials and online personalities exchanged threats that have raised concerns over police tactics.  Arizona Daily Star
