  • Little league teams in Tucson say parks are unsafe as parents report risks from needles and unsafe bathrooms—citing slow police response in emergencies. ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A deadly crash occurred at 4:30 a.m. on Aug. 30 near East Drexel Road and South Palo Verde Road when 25-year-old Fran Molina hit a flatbed tow truck—she died at the scene and three car passengers received minor injuries as speed and impairment are suspected.  KVOA

  • Anita's Street Market, a longtime Tucson favorite known for handmade tortillas and burritos, won a $50,000 grant from the National Trust for Historic Preservation and American Express—money the owner will use to restore its original brick exterior and create a backyard space for the community.  KGUN 9

  • The Pima County Sheriff's Department is asking the public to help locate a missing 72-year-old man, Sitharamanjaneyulu Potiny — he was last seen August 29 near 6000 W. Janewood Lane around 12 p.m. wearing blue clothes and described as 5 feet 3 inches tall with gray hair and black eyes.  KVOA

  • Teachers and staff at BASIS Tucson North unionized by ratifying a collective bargaining agreement with for-profit BASIS, LLC—making the school the first charter in Arizona with unionized educators.  Arizona Daily Star

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Arizona Supreme Court administrator Dave Byers proposed a plan that will allow people with one year of law school training and nine months of supervision to represent clients in criminal cases statewide—aimed at filling legal gaps in rural areas.
