- ➤ Construction began this week on the Dunbar Pavilion Business Empowerment Center as the historic Dunbar School is converted to offer resources and a dedicated workspace for Black entrepreneurs in Tucson. - ➤ Tucson police arrested 42-year-old Vamsi Potiny on charges of vulnerable adult abuse and endangerment after he left his 72-year-old father, Sitharamanjaneyulu Potiny, with food, water, and a note near Ski Valley—investigators say his father remains missing and the search continues. KVOA
- ➤ A woman who pleaded guilty except insane for a 2024 crash in Pima County that killed five people was sentenced to 30 years of supervision at a mental hospital—she will remain under court order during her supervision. KOLD News 13
- ➤ The Pima County Sheriff's Department is investigating a fatal shooting on Tucson’s southside after Marcus Anthony Javier, 34, was shot near 3200 East Wyatt Street on Sept. 4 at 12:30 p.m.—authorities are searching for a suspect in a newer-model dark gray or black Toyota Tacoma. KVOA
- ➤ Benjamin Alberto Mendoza Jr., 23, turned himself in at TPD Headquarters on Sept. 4—after evidence linked him to the Hideout bar shooting on Aug. 10 that left Fred Sanchez dead and another man injured. KVOA
