ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Tucson Police said a deadly crash—possibly involving a motorcyclist—occurred at 3rd Street and Campbell near the University of Arizona and caused the area to be shut down for several hours. KOLD News 13
- ➤ A young girl was struck by a vehicle—near 36th Street and Mission Road on Tucson's southwest side—and transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries as police investigate the incident and close the road. KVOA
- ➤ Silas Jordan Polin, 39, died after a vehicle struck him when he walked against a red signal in midtown Tucson on Sept. 4—police said he was taken to a hospital and later died on Sept. 5 as investigators examine the incident. KVOA
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ PNC Financial announced Monday that it will buy FirstBank for $4.1 billion to expand its operations by adding over 70 branches in Arizona—boosting its assets to about $575 billion. The move will increase PNC's presence in the Southwest as it competes with other large banks. Arizona Daily Star

- ➤ Late Tuesday afternoon, Tucson police confirmed that a Monday murder-suicide occurred at a Midtown home near Grant Rd. and Swan Rd where Michael Duran, 48, shot 47-year-old Michelle Johnson before turning the gun on himself—Duran had a history of domestic violence and was released on pretrial services in June. - ➤ Brian Thomas Balda, 52, of Oregon, was sentenced to 39 months in prison followed by 36 months of supervised release for cyberstalking a former U.S. government official in Tucson after he harassed the victim with abusive messages and drove from Oregon where law enforcement found knives, binoculars, and a replica handgun in his car (the FBI Phoenix Division, Pima County Sheriff’s Department, and University of Arizona Police Department conducted the investigation). - ➤ Tucson Police Department arrested 16-year-old Izrael Micah Salazar—after obtaining a warrant with help from the U.S. Marshals Service—in connection to 15-year-old Daydrian Brown's murder at a house party on July 6, where he and 20-year-old Katraun Devon McLendon confronted the victim. KVOA
- ➤ Tucson police arrested a suspect for shoplifting on September 9th—local officials released a brief video of the incident. KOLD News 13
