GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • An attorney for a Tucson firm said former state Sen. Justine Wadsack must pay $7,838 in legal fees for over nine hours of work preparing motions to dismiss her dropped civil rights claim—he noted her absence at an Aug. 26 hearing did not excuse the costs incurred, even as she cited a family health crisis.  Arizona Daily Star
  • Mayor Regina Romero and the City Council named Roi Lusk as Tucson's new city attorney this week after he served as acting attorney since Sept. 10—Lusk will serve as chief legal advisor, head the legal team, and earn a base salary of $250,000 with deferred compensation and benefits.  Tucson Sentinel
  • Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes announced Thursday that she will challenge TEP’s proposed 14% rate increase on home electricity bills after the Arizona Corporation Commission allowed her intervention — her move adds to local opposition from city officials and advocacy groups concerned about rising costs.
