- ➤ Southside neighbors will soon have a new Latina-owned mat Pilates studio called Studio Fuerza that will offer affordable and inclusive classes for all, including Spanish speakers. Daniela Vizcarra, who grew up nearby, will open the studio on Oct. 25 — residents can look forward to a welcoming space. KGUN 9

- ➤ An investment group including ex-UA basketball player Steve Kerr bought the historic Arizona Inn in Midtown Tucson this week after the property was put up for sale in March. - ➤ At a ceremony on Sept 20th at the San Xavier Recreation Center, Arianna Moreno of Miss Wa:k Ceksan Royalty celebrated Tohono O'odham traditions that have been passed down for over 4,500 years—teaching young women the language and ways of their people while building a network of sash sisters. - ➤ The University of Arizona earned the new Intentionally Thriving Institution designation with the Seal of Excelencia for its work supporting Latino student success in Tucson—its programs have improved graduation and retention rates among Hispanic students. - ➤ Saguaro National Park will break ground on Oct. 13 on its first major expansion at the east entrance in more than 70 years. The year-long project will add parking, new restrooms, and a ramada for bicyclists along an improved entrance road—work that will keep visitor services open until the project is complete in fall. - ➤ A former Grand Canyon National Park superintendent who lives in Tucson warned that keeping the park open during a government shutdown risks damaging key natural resources due to low staffing—his warning comes as federal leaders still negotiate funding to avoid further cuts.
