COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The nonprofit Lerner and Rowe Gives Back will host a Thanksgiving meal giveaway at the Tucson Convention Center on November 12 at 4 p.m.—800 meal packages will be given on a first-come, first-served basis to local families.  KGUN 9

CULTURE NEWS

  • Jo-Jo's Restaurant in downtown Tucson, once part of the Presidio San Agustin, now shows ghost sightings including cowboys, a little girl, a sergeant and an old lady, according to paranormal investigator Becky Gydesen. Host Stefini Nanez said the hauntings share pieces of Tucson's history—details that help visitors learn the past.  KGUN 9

ECONOMY NEWS

  • A Tucson farm that serves low-income customers said it will lose business if SNAP benefits are not distributed in November—fewer benefits may make it hard for many families to buy fresh produce.  KOLD News 13

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Lightning sparked the Stanford Fire on October 24 in the Chiricahua Wilderness, and the wildfire has burned 306 acres. Firefighters have 117 personnel working to contain the fire at 16% while dry weather and gusts up to 25 mph on Friday increase risks — officials urge the public to stay away and avoid flying drones.  KVOA

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Tucson Water announced it will halt residential water shutoffs for nonpayment during the ongoing federal shutdown—this measure will last until the shutdown ends. Customers can call for assistance with payment options in the meantime.  KVOA
  • Two Federal Court rulings ordered that SNAP payments continue, though delays may happen as the program gears up to serve low-income families. Tucson Councilmember Paul Cunningham is gathering food donations from a high school, police, fire departments, and a local church—aiming to prepare food boxes in a few days to help those in need.  KGUN 9

  • Salpointe Catholic, Desert View, Flowing Wells, Sunnyside and Mountain View took the field in Week 10 of Friday Football Fever on October 31.  KVOA
  • 11th ranked Mica Mountain beat 6th ranked Sahuaro 21-0 on Oct 31 to win its second straight 4A Kino Region Title — the win added another boost to the team's successful season.  KVOA
  • The Arizona Wildcats men's basketball team will start its 2025-2026 season in the Big 12 and is ranked 13 in the AP preseason poll as it faces 12 ranked teams including a season opener against Florida on November 3 at 5 p.m. in Las Vegas — the team has nine returnees, six freshmen and one transfer to help fuel its rebuild.  The Daily Wildcat
