Good morning, Tucson. Here's your local news at a glance for Sunday, the 9th of November.

COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Today, the Rockin’ 4 Heroes Concert returns at James D. Kriegh Park in Oro Valley to honor first responders, military, veterans, and Gold Star Families with live music and booths from local agencies. Mariachi Voces de mi Pueblo will welcome guests while Lexington Lab Band headlines the free, family-friendly event—featuring a Community Hero Award presentation and donation opportunities like a live auction, raffle, and car donation.  KVOA
  • Today, Tucson hosts the annual All Souls Procession that will affect traffic in Barrio Hollywood and Menlo Park with road closures from 4 p.m. to midnight on key streets (including Grande Avenue from Speedway to Congress and intersections on St. Mary's, Linda and South Avenida Del Convento). The procession starts at 6 p.m. on Grande Avenue, and Sun Tran routes 3 and 21 will detour from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. (the Sun Link streetcar will run until 10:30 p.m.), so travelers should plan ahead.  KVOA

CULTURE NEWS

  • Cinematographer Wally Pfister received Loft Cinema’s annual Achievement Award on Friday during a Q&A session—he accepted the honor just before a screening of Inception from a rare 70-millimeter print—in Tucson. He said he felt encouraged by the strong turnout from fans as the film industry faces uncertainty from streaming and artificial intelligence.  Tucson Sentinel
  • Children in Tucson joined the Procession of Little Angels (a free event with art and live music) to learn how to cope with loss by honoring loved ones with cultural expression. The event is part of the All Souls Procession weekend (which ends with a Finale Ceremony today).  KGUN 9
  • The American Veterans Traveling Tribute is displaying the Vietnam Wall and Cost of Freedom Tribute at 15455 S. Camino Lago Azul in Sahuarita from Nov. 8 through Nov. 11 with daily hours from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., honoring veterans and teaching youth about sacrifice. The double-sided replica is 5 feet tall and 82 feet long — inspired by the Vietnam Memorial Wall known as The Wall That Heals — and reflects the tribute's goal of preserving history.  KVOA
