COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ South Tucson residents will receive free smoke alarm installations on Nov. 13, provided by the Southern Arizona Chapter of the American Red Cross + local nursing colleges to help keep homes safe during the winter months. The program will also offer fire escape planning and safety tips to reduce fire risks in high-risk areas. KVOA
- ➤ The Pima Animal Care Center is facing a capacity crisis as it currently houses 573 dogs and is urging Tucson residents to adopt or foster in order to reduce overcrowding (which causes stress and illness among the animals). Officials said the census deadlines will pause once the total drops below 475 and be fully lifted if it reaches 450. KVOA
- ➤ Pima Animal Care Center's 3rd annual Fall Festival will be held on Nov. 16 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. at 400 N. Silverbell Road, where free adoptions, games, music, and food will be offered—bonus gifts for dog and cat adopters are available on a first-come, first-served basis—with local radio hosting live entertainment. - ➤ On Nov. 11, many restaurants & coffee chains offered free meals and discounts to veterans and active-duty service members with a valid military ID, and many offers were limited to dine-in orders. KOLD News 13
