- ➤ The LightTheWorld Giving Machines will return to La Encantada Shopping Center from Nov 21 through Dec 9 to help raise funds for local and global charities. Visitors can donate amounts from $5 to $250 to support groups like Stand Up for Kids Tucson and More Than a Bed. KVOA
- ➤ The Salvation Army Tucson is asking neighbors to donate food for a Thanksgiving Community Meal on Nov. 27 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Hospitality House—donations can be dropped off Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. or given online to help serve those in need. KVOA
- ➤ The City of Tucson Parks and Recreation is offering Santa’s Calling for children ages 4-8 to receive a personal call from Santa or a letter if he cannot reach them; parents must fill out the form by Dec.7 and be available from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on Dec.9—Dec.11. City of Tucson
- ➤ Over 100 large dogs at the Pima Animal Care Center were saved over the weekend — 163 now have loving homes after nearly 20 dogs faced euthanasia last week, and the shelter currently cares for 437 dogs thanks to community efforts. KVOA

- ➤ Amphitheater Public Schools will close four elementary schools next year due to a steep decline in enrollment and a $4.3 million loss, according to Superintendent Todd Jaeger — the district will hold three public meetings on Nov. 19, 20, and 21 to review consolidation plans before the Governing Board meets on Dec. 9 and final action is scheduled for Jan. 13 to prepare for the next school year. - ➤ In memory of Josiah Santos, the Josiah Santos Memorial Education Fund was set up to help Flowing Wells High students join Arts Express Theatre programs in Tucson. Santos died in a hit-and-run on Oct. 30 while finishing his last year at the University of Arizona — his love for theater will guide future performers. KVOA
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ If you see smoke from the top of Mt. Lemmon today, it is from a planned prescribed burn on about five acres where test ignitions proved favorable. Firefighters will continue ignitions as long as conditions meet the plan—next they will burn high-priority piles in Willow Canyon while trails remain open and visitors are asked to avoid the area. - ➤ ADOT said drivers should prepare for closures on I-10, I-19 and Aviation Highway this Saturday, Nov. 22, due to the annual El Tour de Tucson event. Riders will face delays and detours as flaggers manage traffic—details include specific ramp closures from 6:30 a.m. until mid-afternoon. KVOA

- ➤ Tucsonan Kate Titus started A Loyal Companion in 2015 as the city’s first clinic helping mobility-challenged dogs stay active. The clinic offers fitness sessions, swim therapy, and custom support so pets can enjoy life — filling a gap for specialized pet care. KGUN 9

- ➤ Today, the University of Arizona and Casino Del Sol announced a 20-year naming rights deal for the stadium, now renamed Casino Del Sol Stadium — the largest in Big 12 history and valued at more than $60 million.
