COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Centurions announced plans for their 2026 fundraiser (Americana Extravaganza: Red, White & Boots) to be held on April 25, 2026 at Kino Sports Complex featuring a headline performance by Lynyrd Skynyrd. Kevin Bedient, the event chairman, said proceeds will help support children's charities (TMC for Children, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and the Children's Museum Tucson).  KVOA

CULTURE NEWS

  • On November 15 and 16, the DUSK Music Festival lit up Jacome Plaza with high energy music from acts like G-Eazy and Loud Luxury—local vendors and art displays made the event fun for families. The festival featured four stages and games that gave downtown a festive feel.  The Daily Wildcat

EDUCATION NEWS

  • A first grade teacher at Math and Science Success Academy in Tucson received an unexpected gift from the Fiesta Sports Foundation. The foundation arranged a FaceTime call (as part of its Wishes for Teachers program) that granted her wish for uniform sweaters for all her students.  KVOA
  • The University of Arizona announced its leadership of a groundbreaking space mission that will test innovative space technology. The project will use advanced equipment to gather new data—guiding future space exploration.  KOLD News 13

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Center for Biological Diversity filed a petition with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to protect the Mule Mountains population of Yarrow’s spiny lizard under the Endangered Species Act. Scientists say climate change is pushing the lizards upward—only 272 feet of available elevation remains—and active mining claims add extra threat to these unique reptiles.  KVOA

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • ADOT began a bridge rehabilitation project on I-10 about 10 miles west of Benson that has reduced traffic to one lane in each direction near *mileposts 292 to 293* and lowered the speed limit to 55 mph while limiting vehicles to 14 feet until *spring 2026*.  KVOA
  • Tucson Parks and Recreation cleared the 100 Acre Wood encampment early Tuesday to make room for a bike park on land leased from Davis Monthan Air Force Base—bulldozers and trash trucks removed tents and tarps as officials completed the final phase before pre-construction began, with materials arriving early Nov. 19 and the park set to reopen Spring 2026.  KGUN 9

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Pima County Board of Supervisors approved a plan to open a medically supported sobering center at 250 S. Toole Ave using $1.8M from opioid settlement funds that will begin limited operations in December and give full referrals in early next year — the Pima County Health Department will manage the center as part of a broader push to improve public safety and treatment services. Community Bridges won the contract to run the SAFR Center.  KVOA

SPORTS NEWS

  • Arizona men's basketball won 71-67 over UConn on November 19 at Harry A Gampel Pavilion as senior guard Jaden Bradley and freshman forward Koa Peat led the team to a 5-0 record; they will return home to face the University of Denver on November 24 at 8:30 p.m. at McKale Center.  The Daily Wildcat
