- ➤ The Salvation Army Tucson is hosting a free Thanksgiving meal at the Hospitality House on 1002 N. Main Ave. on Nov. 27 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., where guests will enjoy turkey, mashed potatoes, and live entertainment+donations and non-perishable food items are welcome. KVOA
- ➤ South Tucson community groups have seen increased demand for food as their month-long food drive enters its final days ahead of Thanksgiving—donors drop off side dishes, desserts, and nonperishable items at Moroso Medical Center to help complete meals for 13 families while warm clothing and blankets are also collected for Casa Maria Soup Kitchen. - ➤ The Gospel Rescue Mission in Tucson is asking residents to donate food for its 37th Annual Thanksgiving Blessings event, which will serve over 3,000 meals to people facing hunger or homelessness. - ➤ A house on Tucson’s southside caught fire Monday morning when a space heater sparked a blaze near East Benson Highway, but firefighters quickly put it out—stopping it from spreading to other parts of the home. - ➤ Actress Diane Keaton left a lasting mark on Tucson with her historic adobe home in Barrio Viejo—Shelly O’Donin, now the owner, said she grew up admiring Keaton and now lives in the home that carries her signature style. - ➤ At a Sunday afternoon ceremony at El Casino Ballroom in South Tucson, the Tucson Musicians Museum inducted one musical group and five local musicians for their lengthy service in Tucson’s music scene—highlighting decades of community impact and musical history. - ➤ Yesterday, November 24th, the playground area at Palo Verde Park was closed to install a new playground and shade structure following a design chosen by community members—option 3 received 40% of the votes. Crews are expected to complete the work before the end of the year. KGUN 9
- ➤ Sun Tran and Sun Express will update bus schedules and adjust many routes starting Nov. 30 to improve service in Tucson, and Route 29 will have a temporary detour from Country Club Road to Campbell Avenue to bypass a construction project lasting about nine months. KVOA
- ➤ The Tucson Ward 3 Office has opened a warming center that serves hot breakfast, coffee, and essential services (housing, food, and healthcare) from Monday to Friday, 5 a.m. to 9 a.m., operating until March 13.
