- ➤ The Christina-Taylor Green Memorial Toy Drive is providing donated toys to children battling illness at Banner Children’s Hospital in Tucson. Local donors are invited to support the drive. Arizona Daily Star
- ➤ The annual Downtown Parade of Lights and Festival will take place Saturday, Dec. 6 in Tucson with a start time of 6:30 p.m. The event will feature more than 50 illuminated floats and a food truck lineup at Armory Park—while Don Guerra of Barrio Bread will serve as Grand Marshal. KOLD News 13

- ➤ Fabrics That Go, a northside family-run fabric store, is celebrating its 80-year anniversary and marks decades of service to Tucson customers + the legacy began with the Grunstein family before relocating from New Jersey in the 1970s. - ➤ Alisha Brewer’s Bake a Difference Cookie Shop, known for donating a dollar per cookie to local animal care groups, has been named Pima County’s 2025 Small Business of the Year by the County Small Business Commission — selected from 106 entries. The family-run shop has served cookies at local events and donated nearly $2,000 to organizations like Reid Park Zoo’s Animal Enrichment Fund and Pima Animal Care Center. KVOA

- ➤ Saguaro City Music Theatre will open its production of Annie Dec. 20 at the Berger Performing Arts Center—its tenth show—and run through Jan. 4. The musical features nearly 40 children and almost 20 adults who tell a story of hope and family that fits well with the season. Tucson Sentinel

ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Coronado National Forest approved the Sabino Canyon Visitor Center Reimagined project after a thorough environmental review, so the visitor center and offices will be replaced and parking improved to serve over one million visitors (launched in March 2023 by the Friends of Sabino Canyon). The plan includes new meeting spaces and interpretive displays, and further work, such as reconstructing stairs by the historic dam and installing a restroom at the overflow lot (local agencies and tribal nations helped shape the plan), is expected to begin in 2026. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Drivers on I-10 face overnight lane restrictions as ADOT works on a major widening project. Westbound Ina Road and Orange Grove Road ramps are set to close at various overnight periods from Dec. 1 to Dec. 4—drivers are advised to expect delays and follow posted speed limits. KVOA
- ➤ Crews began major underground work Monday on Grant Road and Alvernon Way, reducing lanes and causing tighter traffic conditions until spring. Officials said the project will widen the road to six lanes by 2026—drivers are advised to leave earlier. KVOA
- ➤ Traffic restrictions began Monday at the intersection of Grant Road and Alvernon Way—one lane is available each way with all left turns banned as part of underground updates. Officials said the Grant Road Improvement Project will add safety features and new travel lanes and finish by spring. KOLD News 13
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Banner Health announced visitor restrictions at all of its hospitals to slow the spread of flu and respiratory viruses. The new rules, effective Monday until March 31, require children under 13 to be supervised and ask anyone with symptoms to stay home—steps aimed at protecting patients and staff. KOLD News 13
