About this event
TUCSON, Ariz. Emerald 29, the subterranean speakeasy lounge beneath The Treasury 1929, continues its live entertainment series in November with three nights of music, including a rare Wednesday opening on Thanksgiving Eve. On each date, the speakeasy is open from 8 p.m. to midnight, with performances running from 8 to 11 p.m.
Award-winning jazz vocalist Nelly Hawley-Hayes, from Richmond, Virginia, brings honeyed, balmy vocals to the Great American Songbook, channeling Aretha Franklin, Etta James, and Ella Fitzgerald.
Guests can expect the same intimate, low-lit atmosphere that has defined Emerald 29 since its opening: emerald-painted walls, secret alcoves and cubbyholes, sultry banquettes, and a restored vault that once housed hundreds of original safe-deposit boxes. A green light above the Congress Street entrance signals when the speakeasy is open for the night, a nod to the clandestine spirit of Dillinger’s era.
Emerald 29 is 21 and up. Admission is free unless otherwise noted.
